Where to Camp

Where you should camp is easy for me to answer. The further North in the UK, the better, but everybody is different. Ok, let me tell you the best place for a first wild camp: your garden. Yep, I know it sounds silly, but you will get a feel for it. Then spread your wings. Check local guidelines on wild camping. Most wild camping is illegal in the UK but tolerated if you are hidden and leave no trace that you were there. Again, take the stealthy approach. Anywhere will do; Dartmoor, Scotland, Lake District, Sussex… wild camping is available anywhere. Just stay off private land. My first was north Yorkshire moors. Be respectful and courteous and leave if you’re asked, although I have never been asked.
